We found this speech by Nick Vujijic that is so impactful and inspiring. Its a little long, but worth every minute. For PSL sessions, you can perhaps select sections you'll like them to watch. Classic 101'12 used this impactful activity to demonstrate the effects of Bullying & Peer Pressure 1) PSLs start to pump up a balloon. Other PSLs explain that each pump of air is like one act of bully or peer pressure. The balloon gets bigger and bigger, and it will soon burst.
2) PSLs explain that it is unhealthy when a victim keeps all her feelings bottled up like this. Also, she would end up getting more and more hurt. When you go for help, (PSLs take balloon off the pump) it is like slowly letting the air out. This actually helps the victim a lot and the balloon will not burst. 3) PSLs tell y1s that PSLs themselves, Form Teachers, HOY, School Counselor, Head Of Career Education are there for them. PSLs emphasize that Y1s should not bottle everything to themselves, and can of course approach them (PSLs) too (even by texting, facebook etc.) Classic 107'12 used this activity during the session on Peer Pressure
Classic 107'12 created a pledge card for their class to sign, after the session on Peer Pressure & Bullying I, ____________ Pledge:
Classic 107'12 used this activity in the session on Peer Pressure. The activity exposes them to peer pressure by making them choose a side. 1. Paste 2 different coloured tape (about 4m) parallel on the floor to create a line separating the room.
2. PSLs introduce the game to the Sec 1s, instructing them to move to a point on the line to indicate where they stand on a particular issue. 3. Have powerpoint slides which give 2 choices, eg. Chocolate or Strawberry? 2 pictures, which one do you like more? For example - move to the blue side of the room if you like chocolate, the red side if you like strawberry. Classic 103'12 recommends using a skit to bring across the message on Peer Pressure & Bullying. Here's what they said: Their skit had the following points - Different forms of bullying - Handling bullying/peer pressure - Positive and negative peer pressure - Being a by stander - Having the courage to step forward and seek help So go ahead and write your own skit! Skits are really funny and will be remembered by the year 1s for a long time :) Classic 104'12 used this fuss-free online resource to introduce the different types of peer pressure 1. Screen an animation from: http://www.thecoolspot.gov/bagOfTricks.asp
2. Go through the different types of peer pressure in the animation with them:

What can you take away from this simple activity and how can it be linked to the session topic? Used by 111'12 Classic to teach the importance of communication so that others will be aware if one meets with any problems during their session on Peer Pressure and Bullying. Instructions
